The Cats have signed former AFL star and Melbourne Storm midfielder David Smith to a two-year deal

The Cats’ coaching staff have signed David Smith as a replacement for injured coach Damien Hardwick, who has returned to the club after four months on the sidelines with a knee injury.

Smith, who played 18 games for the Tigers last season, has played a key role in their recent resurgence under coach Brad Scott and was part of the Tigers’ premiership-winning squad in 2017.

In his three years with the Tigers, Smith played 50 games and kicked 26 goals.

The Cats have named two new players to their list ahead of the 2017 season, with David Smith and Josh Walker both coming through the senior list.
