Google Play Music stops streaming music
The streaming music service YouTube has officially stopped streaming music, but it’s still available for purchase on Android devices.
The change, which Google announced earlier today, was spotted by Google’s developer channel on Google+ and is the first official notification that YouTube is stopping streaming music.
It means you can still purchase the new Google Play service and enjoy music from its catalog, including a curated playlist.
But there’s still plenty of streaming music to be had through the platform.
For instance, if you have a YouTube account with a Spotify subscription, YouTube will now play all your favorite music on your device.
Spotify has also announced that it will continue to offer curated playlists for free on its own platforms, such as YouTube Music.
YouTube is not currently adding any new services to its music library, so you can continue to find plenty of music from your favorite artists on the platform as well.
The move comes after a year of heavy growth for YouTube, which has added more than 200 million users since its launch in 2013.
