Black Gospel Music Tattoo Artist Freely Tipped Off Source ABC News title Tattoo artist gets tattoo on his arm in honor of Black History Month
Freely tattooed black man receives a tattoo in honor for Black History month.
The tattoo artist, identified as Jay, told ABC News that he got the tattoo to show his gratitude for the Black history he has been a part of for more than a decade.
He said the tattoo is to honor the Black men who have been a force in his life, and that it is a way of saying that I’m still alive.
He says he wants to honor those who have helped him out of a lot of situations.
Jay told ABC affiliate WYFF-TV that he first learned about the tattoo when he was working at a bar and got a text from a friend about the idea.
“It’s a very powerful way of showing that I am still alive,” Jay said.
Jay says he got a tattoo of his arm with a quote from rapper Tupac Shakur: “There’s a reason why I was born, because my mother gave me the chance to be in the world, and to be free.”
He said he was inspired by his father, who was born in the same area.
“I wanted to make sure I’m able to say that I will be here for the rest of my life, so that when I die I can say I made the world a better place,” he said.
Jay said he plans to continue working in tattoo art.
