Juventus v Milan: Juventus beat Milan 2-1 in Europa League

Juventus have been eliminated from the Europa League by Milan at Stadio Olimpico in the third round of the competition.

Goalkeeper Stefan Zaitsev has started the game after making an appearance against Fiorentina.

The Italian giants are third in the table, while the Bianconeri are just two points off third.

Milan opened the scoring in the first minute when Domenico Berardi got the ball off the left-hand post.

Zaitselv, who played in his first match of the season, nodded the ball back into the path of Gianluigi Buffon, who curled a shot into the top corner of the net.

Juventus were also involved in a flurry of counterattacks just before the hour mark.

The Bianconese took advantage of an undermanned Milan defence to push up the pitch and then played a counter-attack that featured the back four on the left wing.

The second half saw a number of Juventus players join the attack.

Andrea Barzagli was at the heart of the attack and the forward, who scored against Sevilla on Tuesday, was brought down at the edge of the area by Milan’s Kalidou Koulibaly.

The goal came despite Zaitsellv’s first-half performance having been limited by a thigh injury suffered in the opening stages of the match.

The hosts have won three of their last four matches and sit third in Serie A with six points from their last eight.
